Hey Gary... I read your column for years in the Sun and was an avid listener to the Parka Patrol. I was so sad to see it go. Every once in a while, I get out a couple I've tapes I made for a listen.

It was good to hear stories from the far north country of Maynouth as I sat in the near north in Manitoba, just above the 53rd parallel. I tuned in a bit late - the story of building a porch during bug season got me hooked.

I hounded CBC for recordings, but no luck. I'd better just enjoy what I saved. Thanks for the great Saturday nights....

Loved listening to the Parka Patrol from Dawson City, Yukon Territory on Saturday nights. I wrote The Park Patrol once relating a story about my husky, Faithful Woola, winning the talent contest at Diamond Tooth Gerties. Woola brought down the house and was a 'howling success'. I subsequently received a letter in return, beginning with the salutation "Congratulations Dog Breath," accompanied by a winning blue ribbon both of which I still have. I never got to hear the radio segment that followed the receipt of my letter but fellow Dawsonites tell me there was one. Would love to hear it and suspect it might be the 1985-1986 January 18th show entitled "Dog Breath".
